Farewell, GitHub
After 5.5 years at GitHub, 12 different managers, and only two teams: Data Infrastructure and Git Systems, I’ve decided it’s time for a new chapter.
Looking back, these years have been a real rollercoaster. There were great moments, difficult ones, and everything in between, but above all I feel incredibly grateful for the people I had the chance to work with along the way.
I’ve worked with so many talented, thoughtful, and supportive people that it would be impossible to name everyone individually, but I truly want to thank all of you. I learned a huge amount during my time here, not only professionally, but personally as well. Many people probably don’t even realize the impact they had on me, but they helped shape the person I am today.
Leaving is bittersweet. I’m genuinely excited about what comes next, but saying goodbye to colleagues and friends I care about is not easy.
I also want to be honest: over the last year or so, I stopped feeling happy with the direction things were going, and after a lot of thought, I realized it was the right moment for a change. Even so, that doesn’t take away from how meaningful these years have been to me or how thankful I am for the experience and the people behind it.
I’m not great at writing these kinds of posts, so I’ll keep it simple: thank you. I feel very lucky to have been part of this journey.
See you around, I hope our paths cross again. I’m sure they will.
